The plan was never the problem.

A call that asks whether you did it, on the days you said you would.

You have restarted four times this year. Nothing was missing except someone noticing.

What Vera actually is

A phone call with someone who is not there. You say the thing out loud, they answer the way a real person would, and you get to do it again — as many times as it takes, with nobody listening.

1She calls youA real phone call, about ten seconds after you tap. Lock screen, headphones, car — wherever you take calls.
2She plays the other personNot a coach reading tips. Exercise Habit Accountability Calls, with someone on the other end who answers back.
3She pushes when you are vagueFollow-up questions, interruptions when you ramble, and a straight read at the end on what landed.

“What if I am bad at it?”Everyone is, on the first one. That is the entire reason it happens here and not there.
“What if I do not know what to say?”She asks first and follows up on whatever you answer. You never start from a blank page.
“What if it is awkward?”It is, for about twenty seconds. Then it is a conversation, and nobody heard the twenty seconds.

Not practising doesn’t save you anything.

The ticket, the evening, the weeks of applying — all of it is spent before anyone says a word. The practice is the only cheap part, and the only part that changes how the rest goes.

What she'll actually ask

She asks these the way a real person would, then follows up on whatever you say.

  1. Did you do what you said you would this week?
  2. What got in the way on the days you missed?
  3. What time of day is working best right now?
  4. What is the commitment for next week?
  5. What would make next week easier than this one?
More about this one

Most people who cannot stay consistent do not need a better program — they have had several. What is missing is any external consequence for skipping, since an app notification carries none. A call that asks a direct question, at a time you chose, changes the arithmetic of skipping. Vera does that, remembers what you said last time, and does not pretend a missed week did not happen.

What she listens for

Repeating blockersThe same obstacle across three weeks is a scheduling problem, not a willpower one.
Ambition inflationCommitting to five sessions after a good week and then missing all five.

Common questions

How is this different from an app reminder?

A notification can be dismissed silently. A call asks a question you have to answer, which is a materially different kind of pressure.

What if I keep missing?

Then the commitment is too high, and the call is where that gets adjusted rather than abandoned.

How often should the calls be?

Weekly for most people, twice weekly if you are early in a habit or coming back from a gap.

What if I am bad at it?

Everyone is, on the first one. That is the entire reason it happens here and not there.

What if I do not know what to say?

She asks the first question and follows up on whatever you answer. You never start from a blank page.

What if it is awkward?

It is, for about twenty seconds. Then it is a conversation, and nobody heard the twenty seconds.
